A Hueytown man set his wife on fire during a domestic dispute at their home. According to al.com Hueytown police and firefighters arrived at the family’s home on Newport Drive.

Once inside, they found McCaroll and his 40-year-old wife suffering from serious burns. Authorities learned the fire was set during an argument.

Police say McCaroll used a flammable liquid to douse his wife, and then set her ablaze. He was also burned by the fire, as was the house.

McCarroll’s wife reportedly filed for a protective order a year ago. She said her husband pulled a gun on her, smashed windows at their home, and admitted to having an affair.

McCarroll was released from UAB and booked into the Jefferson County Jail for attempted murder, first-degree domestic violence and first-degree arson.
