When it comes to her looming divorce from husband-of-12-years Kendu Isaacs, Mary J. Blige is, sadly, not just fine...at least not yet.

Blige, who married Isaacs in 2003, announced she'd filed for divorce in July, citing irreconcilable differences. And in a new interview with Good Morning America today (November 16), Blige spelled out the extent of her heartbreak, and explained she just couldn't see herself remaining with a man who'd lost his compassion.

"The breaking point was when I kept asking over and over and over again for respect and to be respected," she said. "And it just seemed like I was beating a dead horse. It seemed like I was talking to a wall. I just wasn’t getting it back so if I can’t get respect in the relationship, then I have to move on and save myself.”

“That was the point where I was like, ‘I’m done. I just can’t do it anymore,'" she added.

And Isaacs is certainly not making things easy, she said. According to ABC Newshe's seeking $130,000 a month in spousal support, which Blige vehemently contests.

"No one wants to go through this, and this is hard," she said.

In signature fashion, Blige finally urged other women to look at her story as a cautionary tale, and to be strong if they ever experience the misfortune of something similar.

"My message to those women that are going through the same thing that I'm going through or a similar situation is that you cannot rely on people to handle your business," she said. "You have to handle your business. You have to take responsibility and stay on top of it because things like this will happen if you don't."
