Mathew Knowles is blasting London's tabloid The Sun for allegations that Beyonce "cut him out of her life."

Mathew was Beyonce's manager for the majority of her career but a story in The Sun earlier this year described their so-called "bitter rift" as a result of the singer firing him. The article claimed that the superstar was no longer on speaking terms with him and he had yet to meet his granddaughter Blue Ivy.

He claims the article features false facts and is suing The Sun for defamation and breach of contract.

Bey's father opened up to E! in a statement about the suit.

"My daughters and my family mean the world to me," he said. "The barrage of repeated falsehoods spawned by the British Sun's defamatory article has been exhausting and personally damaging to me. No matter how many papers it sells or web hits it generates, The Sun, like any newspaper, needs to maintain a basic level of journalistic integrity. The Sun crossed the line when it went after my family. The Sun needs to be held responsible for its lies in a court of law. This happens too often to too many people, and it is simply unfair."

In 2011, Beyonce fired Mathew but seemed to maintain a personal relationship with him. "He is my father for life and I love my dad dearly," she said in a statement.

This year, she opened up to Oprah about what happened. “It took a while for me and my dad to have an understanding. When I turned 18 and started handling my business more, he went into shock. And we had our issues. I’d say ‘no’ to something, and he’d book it anyway. Then I’d have to do it because I’d look bad [if I didn't],” Beyonce explained.
