Meek Mill Says He’s Done Rapping About ‘Extreme Violence’

Rapper Meek Mill seems to have had an epiphany. The Philly born hip-hop star posted a photo on Instagram of himself exiting a plane and explained that he's learned that he was destined for more than the life he once had and one that he's rapped about continuously.

He also acknowledged that he's moving forward in his life and in his music. Meek says his upcoming Dreamchasers 4 mixtape will be the last to feature rhymes that focus on violence.

"Once I found out I wasn't born to fail and just fall victim to a fake ass life that don't offer shit but a jail,death i carry myself with extreme confidence and I know my value," Meek wrote. "Even tho that's where we came from and all most of us has ever experienced in life! Wake up! Don't question my raps because it's a life we lived and suffered from, I have a right to express my myself! BY THE WAY ....AFTER DC4 I won't continue to rap about extreme violence!!! But I will remain to let my people know in these terrible environments to adapt and survive at any cost because "US BLACK PEOPLE ARE STILL AT WAR WITH OURSELVES AND THE SYSTEM IN REAL LIFE!"

Meek has made headlines over the past year for his ongoing feud with Drake and his high-profile relationship with Nicki Minaj. Meek also served 90 days on house arrest earlier this year; that sentence ended in June. He defended embattled rapper Troy Ave. back in May after the shooting incident at Irving Plaza landed Ave in jail and facing felony charges.

“The laws they made ain’t designed to protect us!" Meek wrote in an Instagram post at the time. "They like 'get killed or get a 100 years’ Don’t let the press ‘gas’ you to go against ya own people!”
