The Southeast is no stranger to sinkholes, but they're usually known to occur in Florida. This one hit a little too close to home: at the IHOP in Meridian, Miss!

Can you imagine sitting down for a meal with family or friends, maybe wrapping up a date, and you watch your car fall into a hole in the ground as the earth opens to swallow your vehicle? That is exactly what happened to some diners at the newly opened IHOP.

According to The Meridian Star, early investigation into the incident reveals a sinkhole may not be the culprit, as witnesses report hearing a loud boom before the cars began to fall, indicating that there may have been an earthquake. Investigation is ongoing.
