Townsquare Media is excited to announce the addition of Mickey Johnson to its team in Tuscaloosa as the brand manager for WTUG-FM.

Johnson brings more than 30 years of radio broadcasting, promotions, and management experience to the 100,000-watt, urban adult contemporary station. That background makes Market President David Dubose enthusiastic for the future of WTUG.

“I am excited to have Mickey Johnson join our Tuscaloosa team,” Dubose said. “Mickey is a proven winner. I am very confident Mickey and his team will create compelling local content to take WTUG to the next level.  Mickey is known for creating radio stations which are fun to listen to and radio stations with an amazing record of service to the community”.

Johnson’s career began in his hometown of Miami as a promotions assistant before moving north to Orlando as Promotions Director and later to Jacksonville as Program Director for Clear Channel.  He first moved to Alabama to join Cox Radio and was instrumental in the launch of ‘95.7 Jamz’ when it began in 1996. He would spend 13 years in the state before joining Radio One in St. Louis as the operations manager.

“I’m super excited to be working with Market President David Dubose again,” Johnson said. “WTUG is heritage station that he and Kurt Johnson has entrusted in me to take to the next level. Townsquare believes all of its stations should perform beyond expectations and I look forward to being a part of that.”

His expertise in management and marketing will only strengthen Tuscaloosa’s top-ranked radio station. Johnson will also return to the airwaves for the afternoon drive from 2-7PM.

You can listen to the station 24/7 via the radioPup app.
