Monica is on the road to recovery after undergoing surgery to remove endometriosis, 2 cysts, fibroids and a hernia. According to the Mayo Clinic, endometriosis is an often painful disorder in which tissue that normally lines the inside of the woman's uterus — the endometrium — grows outside the uterus.

The veteran R&B singer revealed the medical news on her Instagram page on Sunday (June 18). In the photo above, Monica looks healthy and happy in her lovely pink dress as she detailed her medical emergency in the caption.

"In life we have to count it all joy and know the unplanned may be in his plan," she writes. "May 30th I had an almost 8 hour surgery to remove my endometriosis (which I didn't know I had until two weeks prior), 2 cysts, fibroids & a hernia that all were making me very sick."

"I've known something was wrong but I also knew victory [and] better health would be near again!!" she continued. "Thank you Dr. Ceana Nezhat & Northside Hospital Staff."

You may have also noticed that Monica is sporting a new hair color. At the request of her husband, Shannon Brown, the singer dyed her hair purple. She was rocking a blonde-colored hairdo previously.

In another photo, Monica shows off her pink dress, which reveals her slender legs, and her matching stiletto heels. As you can see, the singer is really looking good and healthy.

"In love I live & In truth I trust. Be your best you!!! Mrs. Brown," she wrote in the caption.

It's good to see that Monica is on the road to recovery. We wish her the best. Also, Happy Father's Day to Shannon Brown.
