With a major meeting to be held tonight, the Tuscaloosa County Chapters of the NAACP and SCLC held a rally on the courthouse steps today to bring to the attention of the community the Integrated Curriculum, Facilities & Demographics Strategic Plan for Tuscaloosa City Schools. Rev. Paul Sanders called the plan "a scheme to transfer tax dollars to the construction industry" "When you look at the plan with a proposed expenditure of $162 million  on construction and only $7 million dedicated to improving curriculum and staffing, you know that something is wrong. Our school system has some of the worst test results in the state but our superintendent is proposing to spend 24 times more money on construction projects than on curriculum and instruction. The proposal makes no sense."
