The top of the year is always a bit slow when it comes to new music releases but March is changing that trend. A few oft-delayed albums will finally see the light of day.

The biggest one out of all from a commercial standpoint is Rick Ross' 'Mastermind.' The Boss originally proclaimed on Twitter last year that the release date was Dec. 17, but he ended up postponing the release to March 4 of this year. The 16-track effort will be his longest-running effort since his debut LP, 'Port of Miami.'

Ross has dropped three singles leading up to the release: The Future-assisted 'No Games,' 'The Devil Is a Lie' featuring Jay Z and 'War Ready' with Jeezy. The Maybach Music Group leader is on the promotional trail and was recently spotted working on the video to 'War Ready' with Jeezy.

Gangsta Gibbs is back for the underground rap heads. Freddie Gibbs joins forces with respected producer Madlib for the much-delayed but still anticipated collaboration album 'Piñata.' The project has solid offerings like 'Robes' featuring Earl Sweatshirt and Domo Genesis and 'Deeper.' An album's worth of Gibbs rhyming over Madlib's street-cooked, half-funky, half-soulful production will be something to constantly put on repeat. 'Piñata' will drop on March 18.

Other notable hip-hop releases include YG's 'My Crazy Life,' which features the hit single alternatively known as 'My Hitta;' and Young Money's 'Rise of an Empire' compilation, the label's first since 2009's 'We Are Young Money.'

R&B isn't staying silent in March, however. Ashanti is set to release 'BraveHeart,' her first album since 2009. Aloe Blacc had massive exposure as a feature on Avicii's Top 10 single 'Wake Me Up,' and his own single 'The Man' has achieved Billboard success thanks in part to those Beats by Dre commercials. His album, 'Lift Your Spirit' will also hit stores in March.
