Nicki Minaj is Not Bisexual, Only Claimed She Was to Attract Attention

In a new profile in Rolling Stone, pink-loving femcee Nicki Minaj opens up about her painful past, which includes a violent and drug-addicted father. But she also retracts a claim she made early in her career, which was that she was bisexual. Minaj now claims she said she was into girls not to attract a female lover, but to attract media attention and to grab headlines early on. While she finds women to be sexy, she doesn’t bed ‘em.

That revelation should irritate Minaj’s gay fans, since she lied to get people to notice her. Most people struggle with alternative lifestyles when it comes to sexual orientation, so for Minaj to have claimed she participated in said alternative lifestyle and to then call it a lie is difficult to process.

She said, “I think girls are sexy. But I’m not going to lie and say that I date girls.” Not to be nitpickers, but she lied and said that she did. Just sayin’. We’ll also throw props her way, though, since it does take cojones to admit that she wasn’t being truthful about her orientation.

As for the more serious stuff, Minaj said that she used to pray for success so she could take care of her mom. “When I first came to America, I would go in my room and and kneel down at the foot of my bed and pray that God would make me rich so that I could take care of my mother.” Also scary — and another reason she likely wanted to support her mom? Apparently Minaj’s dad once set the house on fire, while mom was inside.

Her parents are still together and her dad does not appreciate that she reveals such key personal details. But that doesn’t stop her from spilling the familial beans. “It’s the price you pay when you abuse drugs and alcohol,” she says. “Maybe one day your daughter will be famous and talk to every magazine about it, so think about that, dads out there who want to be crazy.”

She has a point there…

Minaj also expressed pride at the fact that she didn’t need to earn scene points or street cred by pushing dope or committing crimes. “At one point you had to sell a few kilos to be considered a credible rapper,” the ‘Starships’ singer said. “But now it’s like Drake and I are embracing the fact that we went to school, we love acting, we love theater, and that’s ok — and it’s especially good for the black community to know that’s ok, that’s embraced.”

We agree, Nicki!
