After Panama City Beach banned booze from it's beaches two years ago, spring breakers fled to Gulf Shores to get their drink on. In turn, Gulf Shores banned drinking on the beach last year.

Well, once again, Gulf Shores is NOT allowing drinking on its beaches. The ban applies to everyone including locals from March 4th-April 16th 2017.

Gulf Shores City Council took action early, after previous years the beach was in complete chaos. The local police department said there were underage kids, drinking and doing drugs, plus, it was trashed.

The downside, is that Gulf Shores tourism statistics showed a dip in condominium and shopping sales. The city plans to talk to officials and businesses after Spring Break 2017 to see how they turned out this year.

Grant Brown, the director of Gulf Shores' Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department says they don't specifically market their beach for college spring breakers, but more so families.
