Northport Chick-fil-A chose to acknowledge the meaning of Memorial Day in a profound way by reserving a 'Missing Man' table inside their restaurant to remember missing servicemen and women.

A plaque on the table offers an explanation for the items at the Missing Man table.

“This table is reserved to honor our missing comrades in arms.
The tablecloth is white—symbolizing the purity of their motives when answering the call of duty.
The single red rose, displayed in a vase, reminds us of the life of each of the missing and their loved ones and friends of these Americans who keep the faith, awaiting answers.
The vase is tied with a yellow ribbon, a symbol of our continued determination to account for our missing.
A pinch of salt symbolizes the tears endured by the missing and their families who seek answers.
The Bible represents the strength gained through faith to sustain those lost from our country, founded as one nation under God.
The glass is inverted—to symbolize their inability to share this evening’s toast.
The chair is empty—they are missing.”

Marketing Director, Annette Smallwood told WTVM, "Its more important than any other day because we tend to forget what Memorial Day is all about. We all think it's about grilling, let’s go to the lake, let’s go to the river and we tend to forget those that have lost their lives.”
