Nude Celeb Photos Leak: FBI Responds to Account Hacking
According to PEOPLE, on Monday (Sept. 1), the FBI announced it will pursue allegations that the stars’ private accounts had been hacked.
The publication reports that the FBI claims it is “aware of the allegations concerning computer intrusions and the unlawful release of material involving high profile individuals, and is addressing the matter.”
“Any further comment would be inappropriate at this time,” spokeswoman Laura Eimiller added in a statement (via PEOPLE).
Over the weekend, a spokesperson for Lawrence confirmed the Oscar-winner was in some of the leaked images. Celebs like Ariana Grande, Victoria Justice and Mary Elizabeth Winstead also responded to the account hacks.
More recently, model Kate Upton’s lawyer addressed the hack, telling Us Weekly: “This is obviously an outrageous violation of our client Kate Upton’s privacy. We intend to pursue anyone disseminating or duplicating these illegally obtained images to the fullest extent possible.”
USA Today reports that Apple is investigating whether any iCloud accounts were compromised, according to spokeswoman Natalie Kerris.
