Overturned 18 Wheeler Closed Highway 280 To Closed In Both Directions

If you are planning a trip to Sylacauga there is a possibility that you may have to take a detour. U.S. 280 has been shut down in both directions near Sylacauga after an 18 wheeler overturned and spilled a large amount of diesel fuel.

The accident happened about 3:32 p.m. at mile marker 40 in front of Glynn Smith Toyota, between and Sylacauga and Childersburg. The driver sustained minor injuries. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Officials from the Talladega County Emergency Management Agency, the Alabama Department of Environmental Management and Alabama Department of Transportation are on the scene.
