While we have the Alabama Accountability Act, which allows students to leave failing schools in favor of private schools and receive tax credits, some parents are being fined and even jailed for sending their children to schools other than the one for which they're zoned.Remember the case of Kelley Williams-Bolar, who was placed in jail for taking her daughters to a school for which they weren't zoned? Well, it appears that many other parents face the same controversy.  According to The Seattle Times, the parents are accused of "stealing an education."

Should this be allowed? Is it right to jail parents for attempting to provide their children with quality educations from public schools if they aren't zoned for those schools?
