For years, we've all heard that a person who curses a lot has a limited vocabulary which is insufficient in helping that person articulate his/her thoughts. Turns out, that just may not be true.

According to ScienceAlert, a website which describes itself as having an aim of sharing knowledge and promoting science, researchers have determined that the ability to generate curse words was not an index of overall language poverty. In fact, it was found that those who vastly use words and terms deemed taboo often have expansive vocabularies and that their use of such words in correct context point to greater comprehension and language understanding.

Now, this is not to say that obscene language is ever appropriate.  Neither does it mean that a person who uses the same curse words over and over are smarter.  But if you can rattle off every curse word known to man, more than likely, you know plenty more obscure words.

The fun part: Share this article with the major cursers in your life.  Just don't be surprised if you're met with the response: "B****, I told your m*****f****** a** I'm not dumb!"
