Rare Respiratory Virus Believed To Hit Children In Alabama

Entreovirus 68 relatively rare respiratory virus is believed to be partially responsible for a surge in respiratory illnesses seen a UAB and Children’s of Alabama since mid-to-late August.

The virus can be much like the common cold.  In some cases it can cause difficulty breathing and can aggravate asthma.  Although it usually strikes children it can hit adults too, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Read more here.
