Registration for the 10th Annual Doing What Matters for Alabama's Children Conference is open!

Challenge 21, Tuscaloosa's Promise and Tuscaloosa County Children's Policy Council have partnered to host Doing What Matters for Alabama's Children, a community meeting to address the needs of children in Alabama, at the Bryant Conference Center on Feb. 26.

The program will include presentations on the state of the children, schools, and state as well as two afternoon breakout sessions on the following topics:

  • Everyday ethics
  • Human trafficking, in our backyard
  • Charter schools
  • Parent Leadership/Advocacy
  • Mental Health
  • Culture and Language: Identifying and Communicating with our Hispanic Community
  • The promises of addiction and recovery: A Look into the Adolescent Mind
  • Leadership Matters
  • Cyber bullying/Sexting

In addition, this event will provide 5 contact hours for full attendance. Continuing Education certificates are available for purchase at time of registration and will be available after the closing session, with the Alabama Board of Social Work Examiners and Alabama Board of Nursing being pre-approved.

Registration is available online at training.ua.edu/children or via phone at (205) 348-3000. Onsite registration will begin at 7:45 a.m., and the program will start at 8:30 a.m. Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox will present the closing general session at 3:30 p.m.
