Rihanna is going psycho for a new role. Well, not actually. The singer-actress has signed to appear on A&E’s popular series, Bates Motel.

On Friday (July 22), producers of the series announced during the show's Comic-Con 2016 panel that Ri-Ri will play an iconic role in the Psycho prequel series. The 28-year-old singer will play Marion Crane the young woman in Alfred Hitchcock's classic 1960 horror flick Psycho. Originally played by Janet Leigh, the character Marion checks into the Bates Motel but never checks out after Norman brutally stabs her to death in the shower.

So this is going to be a bloody good role for Rihanna.

"Yes, hello Comic-Con. It's your girl RiRi. And let me tell you what a bad bitch is about to do," said Rihanna via satellite video at Comic-Con. "I'm about to check in to the Bates Motel very soon. And guess what else. Guess who's playing Marion. Yes, so all you Comic-Con fans, all you Bates Motel fans, stay tuned!"

Rihanna's Bates Motel casting news follows another announcement that the Anti creator will play an alien stripper in Luc Besson's upcoming sci-fi film, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.

Overall, it looks as if Rihanna is taking a break from singing and exploring acting opportunities in Hollywood. We can't wait to see her on the big and small screens.

Bates Motel returns for its fifth and final season in 2017 on A&E.
