The city of Tuscaloosa announced Thursday morning that the Rod Stewart concert planned for tonight has been canceled.

Here is the tweet sent out by Mayor Walt Maddox:

There are no further details at this time, but it appears that it won't be rescheduled if refunds are going to be offered.

UPDATE: A statement has been released from Red Mountain Entertainment.

The Rod Stewart concert scheduled for tonight, July 16th at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater has been canceled based on Mr. Stewart's doctor's recommendation of two days of vocal rest.

The singer adds, "It breaks my heart to cancel knowing that so many people have made plans but I don't want to give my Tuscaloosa fans a performance that isn't my best."

Ticket refunds will be issued at the purchaser's original point of purchase.  There are no plans to reschedule at this time.
