Congratulations to veteran wordsmith Royce Da 5’9". His latest album, Layers, debuted atop the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

The collection also nabbed the No. 2 spot on Billboard’s Rap Albums chart, as well as the No. 4 spot on Independent Albums chart and No. 10 on the Digital Albums chart. Album sales was so good that the Slaughterhouse member knocked Rihanna's Anti out of No. 1 spot on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart. (Hi, Rihanna)

Layers, which dropped earlier this month, is Royce's first album in five years. His last was 2011's Success is Certain. With features from Rick Ross and Pusha T, the album has become a must-listen for hip-hop heads who've known of the rhymer before or are just getting to know him now.

Although Royce hasn't been away from the public eye. The 38-year-old also serves as a member of Slaughterhouse (With Joe Budden, Joel Ortiz and Kxng Crooked), Bad Meets Evil (with Eminem) and PRhyme (with DJ Premier).

It won't be long before music fans can catch the rhymer spitting live though. He's heading on a tour around North America (and we're hoping he brings some of his famous friends along.) The Layers tour kicks off tonight in Vancouver. Afterwards, he'll make his way through Canada with an end on May 22. But that's not all. His first stop in the United States will be in Grand Rapids, Michigan on June 2. Later he'll head to Philadelphia, Brooklyn and his hometown, Detroit, before finishing up in Seattle.
