I remember back in 2003 he was a long shot, but after each week he seemed to get closer and closer to winning the whole dang thing, then it happened, Ryan Seacrest said his name and from there Ruben Studdard The Velvet Teddy Bear was a super star. The Second season winner of Fox's American Idol.

Fame followed the big guy everywhere, suddenly Birmingham was know as American Idol capitol and Royalty. Ruben would go on to sign a Major record deal and produce several Albums.

The show is free at this Friday as part of the " Live at The Plaza" at Government Plaza. Also Just a few Cats will be preforming as well, that's Rubens backing band. This isn't Ruben Studdard's first time performing in Tuscaloosa, he also performed in 2008 as well, the show starts at 6pm.
