Unfortunately, even with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, there are still some people who are uninsured or under-insured. There are even more who have insurance but can't afford consistent co-payments. For these, health fairs are the easiest ways to keep a check on vitals. Shelton State Community College is offering such an opportunity next week.

On Tuesday, Mar. 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the 26th Annual Health and Wellness Fair will be held in the atrium of the Martin Campus. According to Dr. Milady Murphy, participating vendors will provide information on medicine, fitness, disease prevention, health, and nutrition; and some will perform the basic assessments of blood pressure and blood sugar. There will also be fitness and martial arts demonstrations.

So, if you need to have some things checked, or if you'd just like more information on ways of living a healthier life, maybe even preparing to get that "beach body," you'd definitely want to take a few minutes to visit the Health and Wellness Fair at Shelton State.

For more information on the fair or the Shelton State Wellness Center, contact Dr. Milady Murphy at (205) 391-2994.
