Six Men Arrested On Drug Charges In Jefferson County

Six men were arrested and a seventh man is sought on a combined total of more than three dozen criminal charges as a result of a year-long investigation of the sale of illegal drugs in Jefferson County.

The arrested are facing charges ranging from unlawful possession of a controlled substance to heroin trafficking.

The investigation called Operation Active Diligence led to 42 charges. Some of the suspects have previous criminal convictions.  One of the suspects has been arrested every year for the past years and has arrest dating back to 1994.

Those charged and arrested are Frederick Dowell, Christopher Ray Stubbs, Charles Ray Moss Jr. Jesse Rolando Newsome, Fitzgerald Brown, Cortney Djuan Payne, Fredice Dewayne Joseph remains at large.
