Solange, Erykah Badu, Ledisi Cover Essence Magazine’s ‘Beauty’ Issue

Three of the most soulful ladies in music are gracing the latest cover of Essence’s magazine. R&B divas Solange, Erykah Badu and Ledisi are the cover girls for the magazine’s "Beauty" issue.

The trio of songbirds appear on three separate covers and they all look stunning. The editors outdid themselves with this edition.

Inside the magazine, which features their 4th annual Black Beauty Awards, the artists talk about their self-expression through music, beauty and style.

Solange remains humble when asked about being a style icon.

"A lot of times I don't feel very deserving of that title, because it is such a rotation of inspiration that I get from...so many people," she tells the mag (quotes courtesy of E! Online). "I interpret my style the best way I can, and I feel so appreciative that it's celebrated on that level."

Meanwhile, Ledisi talks about her self-expression through her gloriously dreadlocked hair.

"Although I'm known for my long, colorful locs, I still don't take my hair too seriously," she said. "I experiment a lot, dyeing it and constantly switching styles to grab attention. My hair is one of my best accessories and changing it helps express who I am."

Finally, Erykah Badu talks about her bold sense of style in music.

"I view my hair and clothes as functional art," she says. "I'm my own stylist and I love it, but I am not trying to make a statement."

Solange, Badu and Ledisi all make bold statements in their unique way -- whether it be in style or music -- and we’re totally loving it.
