Over the past week, the music world has been an eventful one to say the least. 2015 has been one of the more memorable years in music this decade and marks a return to form for a genre that some had said lost a bit of its luster in recent years. In August alone, artists like Mario, B.o.B and Big K.R.I.T., who appeared in last week's Songs of the Week edition - made major waves and held the Internet down with random heaters of their own.

The first week of September means that fall is right around the corner and the music has kept coming at a rapid pace, but a few songs out of the endless pile of new releases managed to pique our interest and stand a cut above the rest.

We present our latest edition of Songs of the Week with three tracks from Redman, Wiz Khalifa and Diggy Simmons.

Did your favorite tune make the cut? Let us know in the comments below.

    "Dopeman"

    Redman

They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but when you're of the pedigree of MC that Redman is, sticking to the script isn't a bad thing at all. And the Brick City representative does just that on his new release, "Dopeman." The song features Redman proving he's far from washed up in terms of rhyme spitting. Produced by Rick Rock, "Dopeman" is chock full of the zany bars that Redman has come to be known for and see him going for broke. Over steel drums and piano keys, he raps, "I said dopeman, dopeman, that's who I am / I got lyrics by the pound and I sell em for grams / I don't sell crack, I sell coke, b----, I'm a star / The lyrics I sell is dope, $10,000 a bar." The first single from Redman's forthcoming album, MudFace, "Dopeman" should get fans salivating for more product by one of the most beloved vets in the game.

    "Burn Slow"

    Wiz Khalifa Featuring Rae Sremmurd

Every second on the clock is 4:20 for Wiz Khalifa and he's more than happy to share the loud pack with his friends and family. So it was a pleasant surprise when we found out that Khalifa linked up with Rae Sremmurd for his latest heater, "Burn Slow," which centers around the Taylor Gang general's favorite pastime. Produced by Mike WiLL Made It, the hypnotic beat is trippy enough to dumb out to, but still smooth enough to fall back and get your puff on to. Put your lighters up and enjoy.

    "Fakin"

Diggy Simmons Featuring Ty Dolla $ign and Omarion

Long relegated to freshman status, Diggy Simmons is attempting to prove he's no rookie with his latest selection, "Fakin," which is nothing short of addictive. Diggy makes sure to bring his A-game on this outing with a stellar first verse. "Baby, I ain't nothing like ya old dude / Everybody got a past, but that's old news / I'm the only one that know the s--- you go through / I just want you to be treated how you 'sposed to," he raps. Calling in Ty Dolla $ign and Omarion, the offspring of Reverend Run shows that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree and concocts a potential smash hit that earns the top slot in this weeks Songs of the Week lineup.
