State Rep. Melton Challenges Colleagues To Live Off $5 A Day
Representative Darrio Melton has challenged his colleagues to do something a lot of us do every day. He challenged them to live off $5 dollars per day.This is his attempt to bring awareness to the difficulty of living on minimum wage. The biggest argument against raising minimum wage is an increase would cost jobs. Economic data has shown an increase in minimum wage would create an estimated 1800 new jobs in Alabama. An increase in minimum wage would also put more money in the pockets of consumers to spend at the very place that pay minimum wage. Read more here.
