How many of us wish we'd gained interest in politics long before we did? Well, this might not be an issue for local high school students once they reach adulthood. At least not if Delta Sigma Theta has anything to do with it.

This Monday, October 26, 2015, the sorority's Tuscaloosa Alumnae Chapter will host a forum entitled "Youth in Leadership and Politics" at the Central High School auditorium from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Local elected officials and other leaders will sit on a panel and address questions about the political process, government, and political interests. The forum is designed to help high school students develop leadership skills and encourage them to become active in the political process on the collegiate, local and state levels. In addition, voter registration will be available.

Panelists for the forum include the following:

  • Walter Maddox, Mayor of Tuscaloosa
  • Christopher England, State Representative, District 70
  • Matt Calderone, Tuscaloosa City Councilman, District 4
  • Jay Logan, President, Northport City Council, District 2
  • Elliot Spillers, President, Student Government Association, The University of Alabama
  • Christopher Ruffin, President, Student Government Association, Stillman College
  • Catherine Nafe’, Ambassador, Shelton State Community College
