The Andrae Crouch You Didn’t Know
Gospel music legend Andrae Crouch passed Thursday, Jan. 8. He'd suffered a heart attack Saturday. While many know him for his work in the gospel industry, there's a lot that the masses don't know about this musical giant.
- One of his songs, "I've Got Confidence," was sung by Elvis Presley.
- Crouch was one of only a few gospel artists with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
- He helped to arrange Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror" song as well as music for The Color Purple and The Lion King.
- Andrae Crouch was dyslexic.
I can remember how popular Andrae Crouch was in the 80's, although I was probably too young to really pay attention to what artists made what songs. Until his passing, I didn't know that he recorded one of my all-time favorites:
If you want to see tears well in my eyes, look at me while I'm listening to this song. Thank you so much, Pastor Crouch! Rest in peace.
