The Sunrise News Sampler

  • According to the Tuscaloosa Tourism and Sports Commission, this morning, Governor Bentley will speak at a Veterans Day Program, to be held at Veterans Memorial Park in front of University Mall from 8:30 until 9:30. The program is free and open to the public, and veterans will be on-site after the program to accept applications for having YOUR veterans name engraved on the wall and for donations for the Veterans Memorial Endowment Fund.

  • Governor Bentley is still undecided on whether he wants Alabama to create a health insurance exchange or leave it to the federal government. Friday is the deadline for states to notify the US Department of Health and Human Services about what they intend to do.

  • Residents in parts of New York state have been rallying against Long Island Power Authority, as restoration has lagged behind others following Superstorm Sandy. As of last night, there were still 67,000 homes and businesses without power.

  • So much for young love. Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have called it quits.
