• According to the Tuscaloosa News, last night, the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education voted unanimously to name Central High School's football field, locker rooms, and press box the Lue C. Mims, Jr. Football Complex. This is in honor of the former coach that led the Druid High Dragons to their first undefeated season since 1937 and the first black certified swimming coach in Tuscaloosa.

 

  • Yesterday, a lawyer for BP PLC entered a not-guilty plea from the company as it was arraigned on charges stemming from the deadly 2010 rig explosion and massive oil spill in the Gulf. However, this does not mean that BP is backing away from its plea agreement.

 

  • There is still no agreement among both parties on what to do to prevent the fiscal cliff as its deadline approaches. Republicans are now willing to consider tax increases, but they're larger than Democrats seem willing to consider to benefit programs.

 

  • Fox Sports reports that Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, and Sammy Sosa are set to show up on the ballot for the Hall of Fame amid controversy over steroid use. The 2013 ballot will be announced at noon Eastern.
