Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox and Auburn Mayor Bill Ham have placed friendly $100 wagers on the Iron Bowl. The game will take place Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Tuscaloosa sheriff's deputies were staking an area where 33-year-old Charles Sanchase White was expected to burglarize a home, and White approached an unmarked law enforcement vehicle and pointed a gun at the uniformed deputy, who had exited the vehicle and identified himself as a deputy. White is being charged with attempted murder.

The bodies of two men have been found in a vehicle parked at a hospital in Bessemer. Authorities are unsure of the cause of the men's death, but foul play is not suspected.
