The Sunrise News Sampler

Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox and Auburn Mayor Bill Ham have placed friendly $100 wagers on the Iron Bowl. The game will take place Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Tuscaloosa sheriff’s deputies were staking an area where 33-year-old Charles Sanchase White was expected to burglarize a home, and White approached an unmarked law enforcement vehicle and pointed a gun at the uniformed deputy, who had exited the vehicle and identified himself as a deputy. White is being charged with attempted murder.

The bodies of two men have been found in a vehicle parked at a hospital in Bessemer. Authorities are unsure of the cause of the men’s death, but foul play is not suspected.

The price of gasoline is down considerably from its peak this year and some analysts say that could turn out to be music to the ears and cash in the wallets of retailers during the holiday shopping season.

A wall of storms approaching the eastern U.S. has a lot of holiday travelers on pins and needles as they worry about possible bad driving conditions or potential flight delays and cancelations.

The  storm system moving across the east is said to possibly prevent the flying of big balloons at the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
