According to Tuscaloosa Police, 21-year-old Demetrius Hart was arrested Sunday evening after allegedly giving a cashier counterfeit money at the Texaco gas station on Greensboro Avenue. Upon his arrest, police located a bag containing 8 grams of marijuana. Hart was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail pending a $1,300 bond. A statement from Alabama's athletic department yesterday says Hart hasn't been with the Crimson Tide since the Sugar Bowl.

Northport businessman Danny Ray Smith has died. Smith was arrested and charged with drunken driving and murder after killing 8-year-old Haylee Burks and injuring others following the 2012 air show. Smith was arrested again a month ago and was said to have been driving under the influence, but tests show there was no alcohol in his system when he was pulled over, reports AL.com.

Student reporters from Northridge High School have been recognized for their journalistic skills through their work on The Northridge Reporter.  Additionally, nine students and a teacher were recognized individually by the Alabama Scholastic Press Association.
