Local authorities arrested 26-year-old Jarvis Reed, who was accused of raping a woman at gunpoint at a secluded lot off JVC Road.  Reed was taken to the Tuscaloosa County Jail, charged with Rape 1st Degree and Sodomy 1st Degree. His bond totaled $120.000.

Cobb County Georgia District Attorney Vic Reynolds says Justin Ross Harris will not face the death penalty if convicted in the murder of his 22-month-old son, Cooper. Harris faces charges including malice murder, felony murder, and cruelty to children.

This Saturday, local volunteers will partner with more than 50 multi-denominational churches to serve neighbors during A Day of Hope through the Hope Initiative. Alabama Deputy Attorney General Sonny Reagan is asking for the appointment of an independent investigation into accusations that he interfered with a public corruption investigation. Reagan contends that he's done nothing wrong.

Authorities say they have found the bodies of Steven Alec Haase of Dothan and David Michael Marlow of New Brockton, who were inside the wreckage of a small airplane that had been missing for over a week.

UPS has identified the men who were killed by a former employee at 46-year-old Brian Callans of Birmingham and 33-year-old Doug Hutcheson of Odenville. Both men were supervisors who'd worked for the company for years.

ESPN has suspended sports commentator Bill Simmons for three weeks for calling NFL commissioner Roger Goodell a "liar" in what MSNBC describes as a strongly worded rant, regarding the NFL's and commissioner's knowledge of what was on the Ray Rice surveillance video.  In his podcast, Simmons went on to say a few harsher words as well.
