Alabama State troopers are searching for the driver of a 1991 to 2002 model Freightliner Classic, who is suspected of killing 35-year-old Kenneth Blanchard yesterday morning. Blanchard is said to have been walking along the southbound lanes of 20/59 between mile markers 62 and 63, looking for help with a flat tire when he was struck by the tractor trailer. The driver left the scene.

Former director of the tourism arm of the Tuscaloosa Tourism and Sports Commission 54-year-old Robert Ratliff was arrested yesterday after a grand jury indicted him last week on one count of first-degree theft for allegedly stealing $80,000 from a collaborative tourism conference held annually. The theft is said to have taken place over the course of several years. Ratliff was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail with a bond of $30,000 and was bailed out less than an hour after he was booked.
