Strong storms moved through the area last night, prompting some school systems to announce delayed openings this morning. Bibb County Schools will have a 2 hour delay as will Walker County Schools.

Court papers filed online yesterday say West Alabama Narcotics Task Force Agents found 112  grams of marijuana and more than $4,500 in cash from the dorm room of Alabama reserve tight end Kurt Freitag last week. Whether or not he has been charged with a crime is not shown in the court records.

75-year-old Shirley Hicks of Walker County was killed late yesterday afternoon when a tree fell on her home. Her husband was also home at the time and sustained minor injuries.

A lawsuit has been filed against ousted Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church pastor Juan McFarland, who admitted to having AIDS, drug abuse, and other infractions. McFarland says he was not going to step down, but the church  intends to file a restraining order to keep him away.

Officials say the treatment of a Dallas nurse with Ebola included a plasma transfusion from a doctor who beat the virus.

A German hospital says it was not able to save a United Nations medical worker who was infected with Ebola. He tested positive for the virus on Oct. 6 and died last night. The World Health Organization has called the outbreak "the most severe, acute health emergency seen in modern times."

Poison control workers say there's been a spike in the number of children exposed to liquid nicotine, used in e-cigarettes, with more than half of the 2700 cases called in to poison control this year being children younger than 6. There were only a few hundred cases just three years ago.
