Stillman College's Homecoming festivities began Sunday and will culminate this weekend.  Tonight, will feature fireworks at Stillman Stadium at 6:30, followed by a Greek Step Show at Birthright Hall, and alumnus Steve Brown's LMBAO Comedy Show at the Bama Theater.  The Homecoming parade will begin downtown at 9 a.m. tomorrow, the football game against Clark Atlanta University will begin at 1 p.m., a battle of the bands will start at 4:30, and a post-game concert featuring J. Holiday and Dondria in Birthright Hall will start at 7.

Today, the "Stand Down for Homeless Veterans" will be held at Beulah Baptist Church, where veterans can get food, clothes, a medical exam, job counseling, and more, according to ABC 33/40. The event will be held from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

Yesterday, two accidents on Interstate 20/59 brought traffic to a standstill. The first was near mile marker 70.5, according to Tuscaloosa County emergency management. 72-year-old Floyd Underwood was killed when the dump truck he was driving  left the road, hit a guardrail, and caught fire around 1 p.m.  Then, two transfer trucks collided near Cottondale, causing traffic to be diverted because of a fuel leak.

A study by the Center for Children and Families at Georgetown University says Alabama has the lowest rate in the South for children without health care coverage.

House Republicans have voted to support Rep. Mike Hubbard as their choice for House speaker, despite his indictment on ethics charges.
