Yesterday, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development  Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing Program held a grand opening for Valor Grove, a 50-unit apartment complex for homeless veterans on the campus of the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center. It is said that the purpose of the home is to house veterans as they transition into civilian life after the military.
For those seeking employment, Liberty Tax Service has planned a job fair for Thursday, November 13 (10am-noon) and Saturday, November 15 (1pm-4pm) in the Rotary Room at the Tuscaloosa Public Library.  Free tax training courses will be provided for both full-time and part-time preparers.

Mind Changers will hold its 2nd Annual Tie-In Ceremony at Central High School this Thursday at 6:30pm. This event will honor students at Alberta, Central, and University Place Elementary Schools as well as Westlawn Middle School and Central High School.  Parents, family, teachers, and community leaders are welcome.

Tomorrow, the University of Alabama and P.R.I.D.E. will host an educational program aimed at drug abuse prevention. The program will be held at the Bryant Conference Center from 10am until 12 noon and will include testimonials from families and individuals who have personally been affected by the consequences of drug addiction as well as medical information concerning the physiological effects of certain drugs.

The Alabama  Supreme Court will hear arguments on the state's appeal of Montgomery County Circuit Judge Gene Reese's ruling that the Alabama Accountability Act is unconstitutional. The hearing will be held in Montgomery on Dec. 3.
