Topping the headlines today is the decision of a grand jury to not indict Ferguson, Missouri police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of unarmed 18-year-old Michael Brown. The announcement was made hours after the decision was made, and rioting and looting followed, although Brown's family, supporters, and even President Obama have encouraged peaceful protests.

According to the police chief in St. Louis County, Missouri, the violent protests following the announcement that Officer Wilson would not be indicted are much worse than protests that occurred right after the August shooting. At least a dozen businesses were looted and set on fire, and protesters smashed windows out of police cars and buildings. Officers used tear gas to break up the crowds.

55-year-old Horace Johnson has been arrested and charged with third-degree domestic violence harassment after he was grazed by pellet when his 41-year-old stalking victim shot at him Saturday night. After treatment at DCH Regional Medical Center, Johnson was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail with a bond set at $1,000.

23-year-old Charles Prewitt III was arrested and charged with attempted murder after shooting his 25-year-old girlfriend early Sunday morning from the seat of his truck while she was in her vehicle. Prewitt 's bond was set at $70,000.

Authorities with the Alabama Department of Corrections are searching for  Tyler Russell Baird, who escaped from a work release center in Decatur Sunday night.

The FDA will announce this morning that more places where prepared food is sold will have to post calorie counts. Establishments that sell prepared foods and have 20 or more locations will be required to post calorie information so customers can clearly see it.
