A 58-year-old man who was having his dog euthanized shot himself in the stomach in front of 69 South Veterinary Clinic yesterday afternoon. The same bullet also struck the man's 25-year-old son in the arm. Both were treated at DCH for non life-threatening injuries, and the shooting is believed to be an accident.

A 49-year-old security guard at Good Times Lounge was injured Saturday morning after being hit by a car driven by 29-year-old Deandre Brown, who was upset after being asked to leave the bar's premises. Brown was charged with second degree assault and placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $15,000 bond.

A 20-year-old man and 19-year-old woman were injured after falling from a fourth-floor balcony at Crimson Student Living early Saturday. The victims were treated at DCH Regional Medical Center for broken bones.

The National Labor Relations Board has upheld a ruling that Mercedes violated federal labor laws by stopping United Auto Workers union supporters from handing out literature inside its Alabama plant.
