‘The Voice’ Recap: The Final 3 Perform for the Season 4 Win

'The Voice'
Trae Patton, NBC

Tonight (June 17) marked the second-to-last episode of Season 4 of ‘The Voice.’ There are three contestants left — Team Usher‘s quirky indie popper Michelle Chamuel and Blake Shelton‘s duo the Swon Brothers and solo country blonde Danielle Bradbery. For the second season in a row, the country coach has two horses in the race for the finals, with oddsmakers predicting that Bradbery –with one “R”– will notch the big win.

This was the Top 3’s chance to perform for the votes that will decide the Season 4 winner, and it was the second-to-last ep before Shakira and Usher exit after a fun season of filling in.

For the penultimate ep, the singers encored with their definitive song of the season and a second song.

Michelle Chamuel (Team Usher):

The bespectacled one sang Taylor Swift‘s ‘I Knew You Were Trouble,’ which was her defining song of the season and made America fall in love with her. The encore was just as good.

She then followed up with Annie Lennox’s emotional ballad ‘Why’ and it resonated, emotionally, despite not being a current track.

Danielle Bradberry (Team Blake Shelton):

Bradbery, who is 16, is the odds-on favorite, as she has outlasted several better and more capable singers. Her defining song was Pam Tillis’ ‘Maybe It Was Memphis’ and the encore was crisp, clean and country.

She followed with Sara Evans‘ ‘Born to Fly,’ proving she can do an uptempo track, too.

The Swon Brothers (Team Blake Shelton):

They hit candlelit stage to “encore” with ‘Danny’s Song,’ which was the track that represented their defining moment of the season. They turned in back-to-back slow tunes, each of which showed their depth.

The Bros., the first duo to make it to the finals, sang the Eagles’ ballad ‘I Can’t Tell You Why.’ They found their falsetto and it sounded Bee Gees-like.
