The health department has given three Tuscaloosa restaurants ten days to correct the problems that gave them health score ratings lower than 80.

The University Blvd. location of Waffle House received a score of 72 as did the restaurant at North River Yacht Club.

The Yacht Club restaurant had five critical violations including food not being cooked at proper temperatures, a slicer not being correctly cleaned, storing cooked items in the freezer, cleaning chemicals not being stored properly, and workers drinking personal drinks.

The third on this list was Moe's Original Barbecue on University Blvd. which received a score of 79.

Inspection scores reflect compliance with minimum health standards only at the time of the inspection.

  • Establishments that score between 85 and 100 are considered to be in satisfactory compliance and are inspected on a routine schedule.
  • Establishments scoring between 70 and 84 means that a follow-up inspection is required within 60 days.
  • Establishments scoring 60-69 require a follow-up and re-inspection within 48 hours.
  • Establishments scoring below 60 are immediately closed.
