Mama T is fit to be tied.

On Sunday (June 26), Beyonce opened the 2016 BET Awards with a surprise performance of her Lemonade track, "Freedom." The artist was, however, noticeably absent from the stage when it came time to receive her four awards of the evening, leaving her mother, Tina Knowles, to accept them on her behalf.

Knowles explained to the audience that her daughter had left hastily in order to "get on [a] place and fly to London for a concert." And that's when the BeyHive stung.

It turned out that Beyonce's tour stop was not in London, but rather in Sunderland, England. Fans immediately began to accuse Knowles of lying about the star's whereabouts.

Tired of "people writing [her] story," the fashion designer hit back with two lengthy posts on Instagram on late Monday evening (June 27).

"First of all I did make a mistake on the city and the day," Knowles wrote. "I asked why did she have to leave early and was told by a member of her staff that 'she had to get back in time for her concert and that she actually should have been there 2 days before, as the tour has been down for a month I assumed the date was Monday and the city was London well it turned out to be in the Uk but wrong city and on Tuesday."

She then pointed out the ridiculousness of the accusations, emphasizing that information about her daughter's concert in the U.K. could easily be found.

"I then want to ask what would be the point of lying to the public and knowing that anyone could see when the date was," Knowles added. "Any one with good sence [sic] could see that ! I am hurt and disappointed because I know what kind of work, sacrifice , and personal Money it took for her to do this show and support the Bet Award show..."

The lesson? Don't come for Beyonce's mom unless you've done your homework.
