This morning, I read about how repairs are being made to the train trestle near the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater.  The story made me remember some things I'd forgotten!

While in college, I was..... I don't want to say "the wild child," but I was kinda fearless.  If my roommates and I heard rumors of some "haunted" place, I was the one asking my roommate Lillian to take us, and I always wanted to ride shotgun.

Well, when I finally got my car, I realized why most parents don't send freshmen to school with their cars. I pressed my luck with everything.  I visited people I wanted to visit at the times I wanted to visit them (read between the lines here, people), and drove just as crazy! I didn't drive as crazy as my roommate, though.  She would sit at a red light and if the light a block in front of us turned green, she'd go even though the one where we were was red.  Okay, okay... It only happened once..... Or twice..... Okay, maybe three times. But other than that, she was a great driver.  She could even drive while fighting, which is an entirely different story.  Now, back to where I was headed...

I used to FLY down MLK and through those trestles!  Each time, I'd dare myself of how fast I could go through them with my rate steadily increasing.  Mind you, I wore prescription contacts in high school, which I did not bring to college with me.  So, my vision wasn't the best. Yeah, I was crazy.

I'm glad that the powers that be are taking safety seriously, but I sincerely hope that the roadway isn't widened, not because I want some kid to be as foolish as I was back then but because I still get the urge to be just as foolish sometimes now (without my daughter in the car, of course)!
