Trey Songz vs. Elijah Blake – R&B Sound Off
Kelly Rowland proves that she’s a headliner with last week’s R&B Sound Off win. With 90.49 percent of the vote, her song ‘Gone’ featuring Wiz Khalifa blew plast Melanie Fiona‘s ‘Cold Piece,’ which only received votes of 9.51 percent. This is Rowland’s fourth consecutive win, making her the latest artist to enter TheDrop.fm’s R&B Sound Hall of Fame.
That means this week we have two new artists who will go head-to-head in the R&B Sound Off. First is Trey Songz, with his love track, ‘Sensational.’ Bringing it back to the old school R&B style, he serenades his special lady with a high falsetto similar to that of Maxwell in ‘This Woman’s Work.’ So it’s obviously sultry.
“Your kiss, your lips taste sweet as honey, darling / I just lose myself inside of you, you / Touch me, hold me, need me, keep me / Swear you’ll never leave me,” he sings.
Going against Trey Songz is Roc Nation’s Elijah Blake with ‘Vendetta.’ Off his debut LP, ‘Songs About Melody,’ Blake attempts to convince his girl that he might not be perfect but he wouldn’t cheat on her. “You be asking me about where I be / Wondering who I see, ain’t you here with me / Baby, don’t you trip, cause I lost that s— / F— them other chicks, but I know you ain’t convinced,” he croons.
Despite the meaning of the song, it’s suave sound will get everyone a little closer on the dance floor.
Will Trey Songz’s love proclamation win fans over this week? Or will R&B newbie Elijah Blake slip in and take the win? Vote for your favorite song in the poll below. Remember you can vote once per hour until the poll closes on Tues., July 16, at 10AM ET.

Rules of R&B Sound Off
Two R&B artists sound off against each other each week. The triumphant artist goes on to compete in the next R&B Sound Off. If an artist wins four straight R&B Sound Offs, the song will be honored as immortal in TheDrop.fm R&B Sound Off Hall of Fame.
