This morning, WTUG listeners were pleasantly surprised to hear that this week's "Real Fathers, Real Men" award would be given to a gentleman from Tuscaloosa.

The letter was written to the TJMS by Lisa the wife of Mr. Walter Lewis:

06/24/14 -

Dear Tom,

I would like to nominate my husband Walter Lewis for a real father real man.

When I met him 23 yrs. ago, he was raising a 11 yr. old son on his own. His wife died of breast cancer. His son who I call our son has gone on to graduate from Duke University and Marshall university. He’s now working on his PHD at UNC Charlotte.

My husband has had some rough breaks in life. He lost his kidney’s due to Diabetes and was on Dialysis for 5 yrs. before a donor was found. He’s 11 yr. post-transplant. He’s an amputee and lost his eye due to the Tornado that hit Tuscaloosa 3 yrs. ago. Tom his faith and determination has never wavered. I work at a physician’s of and he receives disability. When all the bills are paid there is 67.00 left to last until my check fills in the gap.

Mr. Joyner I’m asking for a gift card so that my husband can buy himself something. He truly deserves it.

Sounds like someone I'd like to meet.  Please spread the word. If anyone knows Mr. Lewis, have him to give me a call at 345-7200.
