On Tuesday, December 15th, our friend and Hillcrest High student Angel Eaton joyfully celebrated being completely free of the cancer that once occupied her body!

Angel was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma in October 2013, just a few shorts months into her sophomore year. Ewing's is a rare form of bone cancer, with only about 200 cases diagnosed each year. Angel's tumor was located on her left rib cage. Initially, surgery was not an option, but after more than three months of chemotherapy, the tumor shrank enough the surgeon believed she would be successful in removing at least a large portion of the tumor. On Feb. 28, 2014, the tumor was removed, along with three of Angel's ribs.

After a year and a half of treatment, many months of chemotherapy and six weeks of radiation, Angel finally kicked cancer's butt once and for all on December 15, 2014!

When I first met Angel, I was broadcasting at a car show raising money for her treatment bills. Through the crowd, she came right up to me and asked me to pick whatever color ‘Angel’s Wariors’ bracelet I wanted and with that, I considered us friends. We spent the afternoon together talking and exchanged numbers before parting ways. I now get frequent updates from she and her mom on how she’s doing and the occasional set of text abbreviations that I have to Google because I guess I'm getting old!

Tuesday was a gigantic day for Angel celebration this enormous milestone in her life with tons of social media love and she even got noticed by ellenNation!

From the bottom of my heart, I would like to say congratulations to a young Lady I'm proud to call my friend. I'm so glad I get to keep you in my life for a long time!

Stop by the ‘Angel’s Warriors’ Facebook page and give Angel a big congratulations as well!
