As we continue to talk about the most emotional Iron Bowl football game ever, there is another competition between the schools which deserves recognition.  The Beat Auburn Beat Hunger Food Drive!

Annually Alabama and Auburn compete to collect the most food for charity.  Locally, the donations benefit our West Alabama Food Bank.

Who owns the bragging rights in the 2013 edition of the competition?  Drum roll please... calculators finish your totals... upon further review, it is Alabama who defeats Auburn!  Roll Tide!

The drive results announced by UA's Community Service Center has the final total showing Alabama raised 299,398 pounds of food to beat out the Auburn University collection of 169,702 pounds of food. Great work! We get the bragging rights, but in this competition we all win in the fight against hunger.

Fantastic job done by Courtney, Jordan and all of the other student volunteers! Plus, a big thank you to everyone who supported the challenge for a cause!

One of the event coordinated during the competition to raise funds was the Beat Auburn Beat Hunger 5k. Check out the photo gallery from the race!
