Selma will play host to at least 40 events over the weekend in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the march on Selma and Bloody Sunday. The city will host multiple U.S. presidents, a march by thousands of people across the Edmund Pettus Bridge and a host of speeches.
One of the most highly anticipated events planned for the weekend is BET's three-hour Sunday concert, which will feature luminaries like Bill Withers, Cicely Tyson and Harry Belafonte. It will also feature performances by hip-hop artists like Flava Flav, Rick Ross and Doug E. Fresh
At the top of many people's lists of unexpected guests invited to perform at the event is Vanilla Ice
The rapper will perform one of his own songs, but the highlight of his appearance in Selma will be his participation in an ensemble performance of an updated version of the classic hip-hop record "Self Destruction."
