When it comes to living a long life - booze may actually help you live longer than hitting the treadmill. Drinking alcohol helps more than exercise in allowing people to live beyond 90 years old, according to long-term research known as The 90+ Study.The study showed people who drank about two glasses of beer or wine a day were nearly 20 percent less likely to experience a premature death.

The findings of the study are definitely interesting. One conclusion is that the subjects who consumed about two glasses of alcohol, whether beer or wine, were 18 percent less likely to suffer from a premature death. In comparison, daily exercise of around 15 to 45 minutes only reduced the risk of premature death by 11 percent.

People who drank moderate amounts of alcohol or coffee lived longer than those who abstained.
